WTI, Inc. is an established locally owned family business in Jefferson, GA that manufactures food ingredients for the food industry for food we eat every day. The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the building and its components through routine preventive maintenance and necessary repairs. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and diagnoses of on-site electrical and mechanical equipment for functional and structural repairs. This includes conveyor systems, material handling systems, steam boilers, cooling towers, chillers, air compressors, vacuum systems, CIP systems, mixing, scales, and metal detectors. In addition, fabrication and repair of broken stainless-steel equipment, pipe fitting NPT and sanitation. Candidate must have a strong background in electrical and process control instrumentation.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain building and its components through routine preventive maintenance and necessary repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose on-site electrical and mechanical equipment for functional and structural repairs, including conveyor systems, material handling systems, steam boilers, air compressors and metal detectors.
  • Ability to read schematics (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic)
  • Install and repair environmental-control systems.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs and PLC controlled instrumentation and equipment.
  • Install, move various types of food processing equipment, procure equipment utilities as needed such as electrical conduit, wiring, plumbing for water, pneumatic, drainage, heat transfer systems.
  • Comply with GMP food processing standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of apprenticeship or Industrial technical degree highly desired
  • Minimum 4+ years in manufacturing environment
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment and understanding of mechanical and electrical systems with formal training or education.
  • Proficient reading electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic drawing.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, mandatory
  • Forklift certified and the ability to operate other industrial equipment desired
  • Ability to use computer and computer systems (including hardware and software).
  • Ability to effectively communicate
  • Basic math skills and record keeping skills
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, physically fit to climb, bend and work on ladders, lifts and platforms
  • Mentally fit to work safely under pressure and to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must be able to follow directions and pay attention to detail
  • Able to contribute in a fast paced/team atmosphere
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Kneeling, crouching, standing, bending, and stooping is required
  • Must be willing to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment when on the production floor
  • No jewelry of any kind is permitted while working
  • Must be able to be Confined Space Certified
  • HACCP and Food Safety experience a plus
  • Learn and apply valuable skills, and gain useful knowledge
  • Able to take initiative and problem solve
  • Candidate must be drug free, pass a pre-employment drug screen, and background check
  • Flexibility to work after business hours, weekends or as business needs require.

Other

Salary: $30-$35/hour DOE

Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Hours: First 3-6 months 7:00pm-3:30pm Monday-Friday (Schedule May Vary) Some Overtime May Be Required. After first 3-6 months will be moved to 2:30pm-11pm Monday-Friday (Schedule May Vary)
